One of the first mistakes people often make is thinking that they want things to be back to the way they were before you broke up. The problem is, its due to the way things were before that you are now in the situation you are now and why your relationship broke down in the first place. What you need to do is start a fresh, establish what was good about your relationship before and what was bad. You then need to weed out the bad and keep the good.
A key thing to remember at this stage is that its not just what you thought was good and bad about your marriage, it needs to be taking both people into consideration. I want you to think back to before you were living together, depending on your relationship this may or may not have been before marriage. Anyway the point I’m making is that before you live with someone there are many things which you don’t know about your wife. I really mean the simple things here. For example one of the things I hate most about my partner is that they don’t seem to be able to put the lid back on the toothpaste, another one is not putting Cd’s and DVD’s in their boxes. These are such simple things but they used to drive me crazy. However before we moved in together how was I to know these things would bug me so much?
What I’m getting at here is to emphasise that it’s not always the things which you think are bad about your relationship which may have ended it. It could have been something as simple as a toothpaste cap which was the straw that finally broke the camels back.
