I Lost Love – When It’s Time, It’s Time
Have you ever heard the phrase: it’s better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all? Well when I look back on when I lost love thats how I feel. When I lost love, I thought to myself, so what, it’s not the end of the world right? I know you are probably thinking a million miles from that right now but that really is the attitude you need to take. Thats why I want to share my story with you in hope that you can find love again, hopefully with the person who just broke up with you because almost all relationships can be healed if you know how.
When you think about relationships, it’s important to know that they all have a time line. This changes throughout your life. The younger you are the less time relationships tend to last. Thats why when you where in school break ups didnt seem that big of deal. It might have only lasted a few days or a week so you tend not to grow too attached to the person in such a short period of time. Sometimes it can still feel really bad though. It may also be reassuring to know that most of us will only have one real love in our whole lives. Sure lots of partners will come and go but usually you only spend your life with one person. Thats why I can understand when you say I lost love, its only natural.

My story begins when I had just finished university. My partner and I had actually just got engaged 8 months prior. Taking the next step to move in together seemed the next natural step in our relationship. Both of were just about to start full time jobs and so we could afford to do it. Everything made sense.
The problem with this is that dating someone and living with someone is two completely different things. The reason I lost love was completely down to me. I was just not willing to make that commitment. I tried but I was just not willing to make the sacrifices which living together meant. I still wanted the single life of coming and going as I please. I lost love due to my own fault. It’s strange because it’s never the things which you think you will argue about which you fall out over. It’s all the small little things which you would never have predicted. A classic example is leaving the toothpaste cap off, or not putting CD’s back in their cases. These all seem so silly but trust me it is those things which can hurt your relationship the most if left untreated.
I don’t want to go into too much detail about why I lost love but to summarise it, I should have just been up front with my partner in the first instance. Remember this, it’s far better to hear anything from your partners mouth first than to find out from someone else. No matter what it is, honesty is always the best policy. I ended up doing something which I regretted and still do to this day. Needless to say this got back to my partner through word of mouth and I got dumped. Thats how I lost love so don’t make the same mistake. Learn from my mistakes so you don’t make them yourself.
I don’t want to try and defend my actions because no matter what way I look at it I was on the wrong. However If I had just said at the time that I wasnt ready to take the next step and move in together then who knows if I would ever have made that mistake. Pressure can make you do funny things, especially when there is alcohol involved.
Anyway the point I’m trying to make here is that when I lost love I thought there was no way back. Especially under the circumstances which I lost love to. However as I have said before most circumstances can be fixed if you know how to go about doing it you can get your ex back. I did and now we couldnt be more happy together. We got married two years ago this august and things just couldn’t be better so never give up hope. Honesty is now one of the most important aspects of our relationship.
