Take your court order and go and file a contempt charge on him. At that court hearing, the judge will impose stipulations and consequences if he doesn’t comply. Common stipulations include jail time until a large chunk of the arrears are paid, you can take his tax return each year, put liens on his property, etc. I work in this industry and I’ve seen all sorts of things put into play when it comes to dead beat parents. The rule of thumb you need to follow is persistence. The more you push the issue, the more likely you are going to get results. And as a bonus in your favor, there is no charge for filing contempt. You don’t even need a lawyer. Simply go to your state’s website, download the forms (for free) and file them with your clerk of court’s office (Usually located in your county courthouse). Then don’t give up. More times than not, it takes a few trips to the courthouse, but eventually the parent learns to comply. It seems that spending a few days in jail wisens them up quite a bit.
