Her new boyfriend lost his fortune (long story) & is tired of her. So she started coming out here (family ranch) after the money loss & the resulting move to cheaper quarters. She started coming out here & saying, this is my family, spending Mother’s Day with my husband’s mom & calling her Mom at least once in every sentence. Everyone I know has separate holidays after the parents remarry. His daughters are in their 30s. I can’t stand to go to these things. Of course, I know I should go & be gracious to the scheming females in his family – his daughters really want him to reconcile with their Mom. Even his Mother hopes he will.
I don’t think he should go to social events with his ex – I’d hope he would celebrate with his daughters on a separate day, with his wife (me.) And when they plan a nice get together for everyone at a restaurant, I would want it to be a different day. He goes to several get togethers at restaurants with his Mother, his ex and his daughters & it’s his complete family from the past. It would seem funny to could the times she calls her ex-mother-in-law Mom. Sometimes twice in one sentence. aaahhh It’s so obvious & unfair & I end up looking like the shrew.
We’re in our 50s & 60s & she doesn’t work. Falling back into this family is obviously her best option… I think most people celebrate holidays with their divorced and remarried parents on separate days so that everyone is comfortable.
I end up looking whiny when I relate to my husband that his professional singing daughter took a microphone & went up to each person (about 15) and sang a line or two. When she came to me – the last one – she turned her back and went over to the piano to finish. My throat was stinging from trying not to cry & sitting there with a fake Merry Christmas smile. I end up wondering who are these people & why am I here on Christmas?

My hubby’s ex will probably do this as she gets older. She and he are both about 50. I am in my 30s. His adult daughters can’t stand me and I ALSO can’t say anything anymore because I look like the bad guy.
I don’t know what to do. I’m sorry that you have had to put up with this. Not it isn’t fair and it isn’t right that your marriage is suffering because of his baggage. It sounds like you’ve been married quite a while. Me? Only a couple of months, but he was married for 25 years before he met me. I don’t think it will ever stop. Hearing a situation like yours might scare me into ending it.

Divorce filed 9-06, final 12-06. Although a court doc says we’re separated 9-06, we actually continued to live together until 2-08. However DSHS is trying to collect child support back to 9-06, and the ex won’t tell the truth about when I actually moved out. Also I can’t afford a lawyer. Advise please?!?!
For those that are wondering, yes I was hlping support the whole house hold, gorceries, gas, $1,600 mortgage paid by me! I’ve only been out of work since Summer, and have some potentials coming up. I’m not a dead beat Dad, just down on my luck right now. And she’s trying to screw me over!
Why does the court document state that particular separation date? Did you sign it? If you did, then you may be stuck. They are legal documents if done properly. If it’s just a date she made-up, then protest the actual separation date in court. Be prepared to present evidence to support your claim, like utility bills, receipts, check stubs, bank statements, sworn testamony of 3rd parties, your paystubs showing your address at that time. If she is not telling the truth then PROVE it to the judge or the support agency. Inform her that you have absolute evidence to support the truth & you are prepared to file counter-charges against her for false testimony if that is applicable. Also, if you are out of work for something you did not cause, then your income is reduced & you should be eligible for a reduction on the support order. Best of luck to you. Guys like you should be PROUD. There are so many men who just walk away from their kids. My son could tell you all about how much it hurts. He is grown now & vows never to do that to his future kids.

My exwife has bipolar and borderline personality disorder, all I want is her to take me back so I can go home. Part two of this is her Father hates my guts. I really would like a way so that my ex would come live with me.
I wish that I could tell you something soothing, but the reality of the matter is that you may be better off without her. Bipolar disorder is bad enough for most people to deal with but the presence of Boderline Personality Disorder is more than most can handle. I have worked in adult psych for over 15 years, and I know what I am talking about.
This may seem callous of me to say but my opinion is to make a healthy space between you and your ex. You can be supportive of her and help her cope with her mental illness, but be prepared for the roller coaster ride you will have to face. It also sounds as if you may need to set firm boundaries for her as well as yourself. Especially since Borderlines can be very manipulative; even to the point of self destructive behavior, to get what they want.
Use the space to build yourself up and take time for yourself. Use it to really get to know yourself and possibly realise some of your own dreams.
If you are hopelessly, helplessly in love you will probably take this response as an insult. Don’t…. Truth be told I hope you get your dream. Unfortunately and very likely your dream will quickly turn into a nightmare. Especially if her mental illness gets out of control…

(A)(a) GUIDELINES TO CREATE REBUTTABLE PRESUMPTION.-Section 467(b)
of the Social Security Act is amended-
(1) by inserting (1) after (b):
(2) by striking, "but need not be binding upon such judges or other officials;" and
(3) by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
(4) "There shall be a REBUTTABLE presumption, in any judicial or administrative proceeding for the award of child support, that the amount of the award which would result from the application of such guidelines is the correct amount of child support to be awarded. A written finding or specific finding on the record that the application of the guidelines would be unjust or inappropriate in a particular case, as determined under criteria established the State, shall be sufficient to rebut the presumption is that case."
NEVER pay your child support directly to the mother as it can be considered a gift and not support. Always pay threw the court.

He passed away and his ex wife (my half sisters mother) is trying to get her money through his life insurance policy. Remind you he left this money for his KIDS. It has been 11 years since any legal action has been taken. Please help!
If the insurance policy was left to the estate, then yes, she would have a claim on that money. But if the life insurance was left specifically to his children by name and not to his estate, the ex-wife cannot get any money from either it or the children.
What she should have done (or do) was sue the estate as that was one of his lawful debts that had to be dealt with at the time of your father’s death. Whether or not she can do anything now is for the lawyers to determine.
One thing is sure: she can’t get any money from anyone who received monies from that insurance policy. But if the estate was disbursed before paying out on all the lawful debts (including her’s), then it is possible that anything disbursed from *****his estate*** could be clawed back. Take care.
