My daughter is having a very hard time with her stepmother and stepbrother. Tired talking to my ex husband about how she has been feeling but falling on deaf ears. What do i do? We have already been to court regarding access. He seems to think im filling her head with stuff which im not. I havent said a bad word since the day he walked away from us. In my jurisdiction, in the absence of any governing order or agreement, a parent can take their child away from anyone EXCEPT the other parent. In addition, I would be very careful about putting yourself in a position where you and he could get into a confrontation, even if it is in public. A confrontation would not be good for you or your child.
Morgan, it is a very large mistake to attempt to render such absolute advice to a person who lives in a jurisdiction in which you do not practice. Obviously the laws of different jurisdictions are different; just witness the difference between my jurisdiction and yours (p.s. your analysis of who is a parent would not get you very far in my jurisdiction). If the poster follows your ‘advice’ and it turns out you are wrong about what was appropriate in PA (because apparently you do not practice there and know nothing of the written laws or ‘unwritten’ practices of that jurisdiction), you have done her a very grave disservice.
